  Nicolaus Copernicus was born on February 19th in Torun, Poland. His parents were Barbara Watzenrode and Nicolaus Copernicus Snr

  Nicolaus’ father dies after his mother died sometime between 1474 and 1477. He is adopted by his uncle Lucas Watzenrode who is a catholic priest
 - 
  
  Nicolaus starts off university studying liberal arts which included astronomy and astrology at the University of Cracow
 - 
  
  He moves to Bologna to continue his studies and he stays in the same place as the universities main astronomer
 - 
  
  On the 9th of March Nicolaus conducts his first of 27 observations of the sky
 - 
  
  He earns his doctorate of law. Which is the same as his uncle and guardian Lucas Watzenrode

  Nicolaus discovers his theory about the solar system which shows how the Earth orbits round the sun like the other planets in our galaxy

  Nicolaus successfully plans out Poland’s defence against German soldiers
 - 
  
  In the Vatican they have lectures about Copernicus’ theory which were well received
 - 
  
  The Popes secretary sends a letter to Copernicus asking him to publish his ideas

  Rheticus publishes a book called Narratio Prima. It is about Copernicus’ discoveries

  Nicolaus suffers a cerebral hemorrhage and he is paralysed on his right side
 - 
  
  Nicolaus Copernicus dies on May 24th in Poland
