Copernicus concluded that Earth is a planet. He proposed a model of the solar system with the sun at the center. Copernicus used circles, which were considered to be the perfect geometric shapes, to represent the orbits of the planets.

Georg Joachim Rheticus, a professor of mathematics at the University of Wittenberg, visited Cpoernicus. Copernicus shared his ideas with him, and Rheticus published the Narratio Prima in 1540 at Gdansk, in which he reported Copernicus' heliostatic theory in an astrological framework.
