    Church assembles in the home of Bro. George Holt.

    The church assembled in the home of Bro. George Holt for about one year and then began meeting in the home of Bro. and Sis. Bulah Everett. During this time, Bro. Earl Dulin became the first minister of the congregation. It was during his tenure of ministry that the church purchased lots at 3621 Newburg Road (1961).     The first organized meeting of Newburg Road Church of Christ was held in June of 1959 in the home of Bro. and Sis. George Holt. Shedd and John Berry, George and Bessie Holt, Bulah Everett and family, Ora Marshall and family, Farrow family, Clarence Moore and family, Carl Gaines, Sr. and family, Morgan and Charles Tinker, Joyce Gray and family , Clemons family, Delma Wester and family, Earl Dulin and family.
    These families were its charter members.

    In 1961, a tent meeting was held on the lot of 3621 Newburg Road with Bro. O. L. Trone doing the preaching. Several members were added to the church during this time.

    In early 1962, with the assistance of the Beech Street congregation (now West Broadway), construction began on a building. Bro. Clyde Muse, Sr., minister of the Beech Street congregation at the time, labored physically and tirelessly on the actual construction of the edifice.

  • Newburg purchases portable building, which was converted into three classrooms

    Ministers who helped us during those early years and to whom we will forever be grateful were: Earl Dulin, Elbert Hudson, Sr, Luther McGill, John Leverett, Clyde Muse, Sr., Vator Cowan and Sidney Shanks.
  • Newburg purchases and at the corner of Indian Trail and Unseld Blvd for $24,000.00 and floated $100,000 bond issue.

    A building was erected that seats 350 people. It had 10 classrooms and the kitchen was enlarged.

    At that time, the full time associate minister, Bro. Frank M. Smith, Jr. is called to serve as the minister of the congregation

    Bro. Frank Smith heads up new projects for the church
    Bro. Smith focused attention on developing a mind-set of ministry at the Newburg congregation. He implemented the intergenerational program in 1997 and developed the “God can, We can, I can” project.

    Those ministers who preached for us and encouraged us continuously in the year 2000 and whom we will always love and appreciate were: Brothers Rucell Cobb and Dwayne Wise, Louisville, KY; Alvin White, Jeffersonville, IN; Richard Rose, Cincinnati, OH; Ruben Riveria, Columbus, OH; Kenneth E. Fleming, Sr., Shelbyville, TN.

    Bro. Kenneth E. Fleming Sr. becomes new preacher
    His leadership has resulted in the ordination of two additional elders, William Poole and Ronald McKinney; and the renewal of commitment of eldership by Roy Evans and Lafayette McDonald. He was also responsible for the ordination of seven deacons, Bro. Troy Marables, Charles Simpson, Jr., Derek Woodmore, Sr., Mark Eubank Sr., Mitchell Nelson, Sr., Dexter Pearson and Steve Randall; and the appointment of Bro. Dwayne Wise, assistant minister and Bro. Kenneth Ray, associate minister.
