Printing Press
A German inventor named Johannes Gutenburg discovered that by using alloy and metal molds, he could produce text. In the heart of the Renaissance, when learning and intellect was essential, the printing press allowed books to be made and shared with people all around the world. -
Newspaper
The first newspaper was published in what is now Boston. It was called "Publik Occurences, Both Foreign and Domestick" and was printed by Richard Pierce and edited by Benjamin Harris. -
Magazine
The first American magazine is published called "American Magazine". Benjamin Franklin was the first person to have the magazine idea, but Andrew Bradford beat him to it. However, Franklin's magazine entitled, "The General Magazine, and Historical Chronicle for all the British Plantations in America" continued publication for six months and Bradford's for only three months. -
Phone
Alexander Grahm Bell demonstrates his new invention: the telephone. By the end of 1877 there were three thousand telephones in service. -
Radio Broadcasting
America broadcasts radio to the general public. They limit the amount of radio stations that will air and have general requirements. -
Television
Appoximately 500 television sets were used at this time all over the world. The 1936 Olympic games in Berlin was among the earliest television broadcasts. On November 2nd, 1936, a broadcast from Alexandra, London would be known as the first big public tv broadcast. -
Internet
The internet continued to be designed by scientists and was used for military purposes. Later it moved into people's homes. -
MTV's first music video
"Video Killed The Radio Star" by The Buggles is the first music video to broadcast on MTV. -
Social Media
YouTube, Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter are born and grow over the years. With these social sites, it becomes easy to spread ideas globally INSTANTLY.
