Online Subscription
Netflix began offering an online subscription service. Users could choose movies and TV shows from the website, and it would be mailed to their home, along with a paid envelop for returning the DVD. -
Netflix and Blockbuster
Blockbuster had an opportunity to partner with Netflix. "Netflix CEO and co-founder Hastings approached blockbuster about partnership. Unfortunately, their CEO just smiled and laughed at him." Later in 2010 Blockbuster couldn't complete with the move to online streaming and rentals and filed for bankruptcy. -
Online Streaming
Netflix began offering their subscribers the option to stream movies and TV shows from their home. Some subscriptions have an unlimited service. -
Streaming only
Netflix introduced a streaming only plan. There was unlimited streaming but no DVDs. -
Award Winning Service
Netflix became an award-winning service. Netflix received 31 Primetime Emmy Nominations. Netflix was the first internet TV network nominated for the Primetime Emmy. -
Netflix Expanding
Netflix has begun making their services available in 190 countries and territories. It also offers 21 different languages in their programming.
