    The first "Saturday Surprise" Reading 1
    On March 8th, 1935, Adolf Hilter announced that he would be breaking the Treaty of Versailles. In reading 1, the author writes "In the name of 'defence,' Hitler announced that he was rebuliding the air force, reinstating the draft, and rearming the nation." Hitler knew that it was a huge risk, but he called the bluff of France and Great Britan, and won. Those countries could have stepped in, but they stayed out of it because their countries had their own problems.

    On the second of Hitler's "Saturday Surprises," he once againg broke the Treaty of Versailles. This treaty took away the rhineland from Germany, bbut Hitler was determined to get it back. On March Seventh, soldiers marched in as planes flew overhead. This was an area of huge econimic wealth, and the Nazis recliamed it for Germeny, yet still the allies did nothing.

    "Taking Austria" Reading 2
    Hilter warned Austria that they would be invaded, unless the president Kurt von Schuschnigg resigned. On March 11, 1938 he took Austria with no resistence from anyone. Out of pure fear or true love for the Nazis, 99.7% of the people approved the action. This was Hilters trhird offence toward the Treaty of Versailles, yet still no one tryed to stop him.

    As the Nazis were preparing to invade Czechoslovakia, the Czechs asked their allies, Great Britan and Russia, for support. The prime minister of Britan, Neville Chamberlain, instead of making a stand against Hiler, he defused the situation and appeased Hilter by yielding to aviod war. Chamberlain is now known as th man who opened the door for Hitler to take over Europe.

    "Death Threats and Broken Promises" Reading 9
    Hitler claimed that the countries complaining about the way Jews were treated in Europe were hypocritcal, and had done the same thing. He said that they had crealy denied the entry of Jews in to their county and were controlling other territories, just as Germany was doing. Hitler was correct when he said that Germany was just like any other county becaus ethey wer all doing the same things, but not on the same scale.

    Hilter had already seized a few countries surrounding Gerrmany, but Poland was the biggest gamble yet. After only fighting for 18 days, Poland had lost its territory to Germany, but a bigger war was quickly approaching. Just three days after the attck on Poland had started, France and Great Britan declared war on Germany. This was the beginning of the end.

    As soon as they could, the Nazis started to make drastic changes in Poland. Most of the changes involved education and Jews. The school system would not go above 4th grade, and children will know basic arithmetic and how to spell their names. That is it. Jews must wear a yellow star on themselves, and are restricted to be on the srteets between 9pm and 5am.

    On June 22, 1940, Germany defeated France, to add to their list of occupied countries in Europe. They controlled almost all the countries east on them, and Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg in the west. The only European country still fighting them was Great Britan, who had recently elected Winston Churchill to be prime minister. Europe was quickly becoming one huge Germany.

    Hitler had one more mian target, in order to reach is ultimate goal of exterminating Jews. As the army into the Soviet Union, 4 different SS groups followed behind them in oder to kill the 'enimies of the state' in their designated territory. The SS officers were to shoot on site and kill as many enimies as they could. HIlter had completely destroyed the European Jewery.

    The day before, on December 8, 9141, The US had declared war on Japan, so Japan asked Germany for help. On December 9, 1941 Germany declared war on Germany, and as a result of that the US, Great Britan, and Germany were allies all fighting against Germany. Hitler was always looking for a fight, but he made a grave mistake by allowing those three powerhouse nations to join forces for one common goal; to win the war.
