My Reading Timeline

  • Ramona Quimby

    Ramona Quimby
This book series is my first memory of reading for fun. Ramona was very mischievous and adventurous. I also watched her television series on PBS.
  • Judy Blume

    Judy Blume
Judy Blume books were great and very popular. My favorite was "Are you there God? It's me Margaret." Her books address many issues that girls may of had during adolescence.
  • The Grapes of Wrath

    The Grapes of Wrath
This novel is my first recollection of reading for an English class. The grapes of Wrath takes place during the great depression. It was quite the journey as they left their farm and ventured to California with hopes of work. Another book I remember reading in middle school was Tom Sawyer.
  • The Outsiders

    The Outsiders
This is book marks the first of many reading assignments for English during high school. When "The outsiders" was assigned the teacher told us that we would get to watch the movie in class and that was a real treat. Pony Boy was my favorite character.
  • The Scarlet letter

    The Scarlet letter
This novel is about Hester an adulteress who is publicly humiliated for having an affair by having to wear an A.
  • Romeo and Juliet

    Romeo and Juliet
Shakespeare was not my favorite. I remember it being very challenging and not quite understanding what I was reading.
  • The Odyssey

    The Odyssey
Greek mythology was interesting, but i feel like it was never what you read. I can't say much about a journey that I didn't understand. This was my last novel from my high school years. There were more, The Diary of Anne Frank, To kill a mockingbird. I read because I had to, not because I enjoyed it.
  • Magazines

    Magazines
I felt like I wasn't a good reader, so after I graduated high school I never read. I had subscriptions to magazines. Parenting, Good Housekeeping, and Cosmopolitan. From 1997 to about 2015 I only read magazine articles.

  • The Kitchen's God's Wife

    The Kitchen's God's Wife
This marks a new era for me. In 2015, I have recently enrolled in college and now taking English composition. My professor gave us novel to read and write about. I choose The Kitchen's God's Wife. I fell in love with this story and could not put the book down.
  • Emily Giffin book series

    Emily Giffin book series
Every since I read Amy Tan's The Kitchen God's Wife, I've wanted to read more. The way that your imagination can play a movie in your mind is better than any blockbuster movie. So I have began to read Emily Giffin. I enjoy her books. I just don't have a lot of time to read due to time and school.
