My mom read to me when I was a little girl.

I started preschool. They read books to me and taught me the alphabet.

Kindergarten taught me how to use the alphabet to create words. I was read to by the teacher and began to read to self.

My first grade teacher had us play fun reading games that helped me learn words. We also played a reading game on the computer where we had to make correct words to move on. We all looked forward to playing the game.

My second grade teacher had a library filled with books and comfy couches, bean bags, and chairs. She made a big deal about reading and made it fun. I always looked forward to the library reading center and picking out a new book and choosing a chair to sit in.

Our librarian read Where the Wild things are by Maurice Sendak. We did activities to go along with the story. I also remember the library decorated and painted with the theme of that story. We had a bunk bed type of reading place that we could climb up to read.

My reading teacher was very passionate about reading and influenced us to read. She always let us choose our reading material and made it fun.

We made a picture book to take to the elementary school and read it to the 1st grade students.

It was in college when I really first started to understand the many rules to our English language. She went in depth to make us understand how all the rules apply and made it easy to understand.
