Being read to by Ms.Smith in the first grade really introduced me to books and is my first real memory of being able to enjoy all the books and stories she shared.

Ms.Fore's third grade class had a reading contest and I used to be competitive, wanting to have read the most books, I was able to explore all the books at my level and a few more. One of the most rewarding contests that i have participated in.

One of my favorite elementary school projects, was a group performance of various picture books, my performance was about the book "Bony Legs" being able to bring this book to life made it even more enjoyable to read again, along with some other short picture novels.

My fifth grade teacher at the time wasn't very encouraging, even with our little free time, he would tell us not to read or draw, I didn't like being controlled or being told no, so I ended up not enjoying reading anymore.

Middle school was a weird time, I was advanced one year and remedial the next between 6-7th grade, after a rough year of 5th grade, reading was not my thing anymore and I didn't find much joy in it. After reading "The Giver" I was really bored and I couldn't process the books I was reading like I used to.

I jumped on the bandwagon a year after this book came out, but it made a difference. I like to let popular things simmer down because I'm too lazy to understand the hype. I read this book in two days, I laughed, cried, fell in love with the characters. This book reminded me the joy of reading.

So I was introduced to F. Scott Fitzgerald's writing in high school reading "The Great Gatsby" not my favorite story because I hate Daisy, but this opened my eyes to his other works, my favorite being "Tender is the Night."

English 232 was one of my favorite English classes, it opened up my eyes to old literature, and there was plenty to appreciate. My favorite read from the class was Voltaire's "Candide"

2017 was a hard year for me personally, one of the ones where my heart got broken, and it was my fault. I came across this book because I was shopping for textbooks and this is around the time poetry books where a thing, but this one caught my eye and I am grateful for it. There's something about someone sharing their hurt and making it known that we go through similar things.

My first year at Nevada State was kind of rough and for one class I had to read like ten books, loved the class nonetheless, but this one was my favorite, reflecting on true stories, this book helped me dive further in to Asian American literature
