  • 1998-2000: Parents would books to me

    1998-2000: Parents would books to me
    During this time period, I was a newborn baby-two years old. According to my mom, her and my dad would read me books. I enjoyed having them read books to me.
  • 2000-2002: I love looking through picture books!

    2000-2002: I love looking through picture books!
    During this time period, I was age 2-4 years old. I began to become more interested in reading books and I still enjoyed having books read to me. Although I was not quite reading yet, I enjoyed flipping through picture books and looking at the pictures.
  • 2002-2004: Learning to read is not easy!

    2002-2004: Learning to read is not easy!
    I was age 4-6 years old at this time. I had started kindergarten and learning to read is something that I struggled with at the beginning. I did not like reading so much when I felt like a had to rather than wanting to. At this time, I did not have as much interest in books because I was the one who was now expected to read them which seemed very difficult at times.

    2004-2006: Parents would take me to the library a lot
    I think that my parents realized that I was starting to not enjoy books and reading. They would take me to the library a couple of times each month to let me explore and look for books that looked interesting to me. This made reading more fun and I am glad that they did this.
  • 2006-2008: Junie B. Jones

    2006-2008: Junie B. Jones
    During this time period my favorite books were Junie B. Jones! I thought that they were the funnest and coolest books of all time.
  • 2008-2010: Recreational reading, not forced reading!

    2008-2010: Recreational reading, not forced reading!
    I preferred to read books that I wanted to read, not books that I was forced to read or assigned to read in a class. I was never very interested in class textbooks or class readings.
  • 2010-2012: Twilight

    2010-2012: Twilight
    I began to be interested in the Twilight books and I read all of them. This was very enjoyable for me and I had a lot of fun reading all of these books.
  • 2012-2014: The Hunger Games

    2012-2014: The Hunger Games
    I began getting interested in the Hunger Games books. I found that they were really exciting and interesting and so I would read all of those chapter books in my free time.
  • 2014-2016: Did not like my ELA classes

    2014-2016: Did not like my ELA classes
    At this time, I was in my later years of High School. I did not like my ELA classes because I felt that the readings that they assigned were always so boring and I was not interested in them. Because of this, I began to not read for myself as much and I would only read what I had to for school.
  • 2016-2018: Interested in textbooks

    2016-2018: Interested in textbooks
    During this time the books that I read are typically textbooks that I am assigned to read in my college courses. I actually enjoy reading most of these textbooks or assigned chapters because I gain a lot of new information that will be beneficial to me in the future.
