    My Reading History

  • Bedtime For Frances

    Bedtime For Frances
I loved all the Frances stories. I checked them out at the school library from my librarian Mrs. Casey.
  • Charlotte's Web

    Charlotte's Web
Charlotte's Web became my favorite book when I was in fourth grade. It is still one of my all time favorite books. The last line is also one of my favorite quotes.
"It is not often someone comes along that's a true friend and good writer. Charlotte was both. "
  • The Witch of Blackbird Pond

    The Witch of Blackbird Pond
This became my favorite book when I was in about 5th grade. I still love it and have found so much factual information on the internet about the events in the book.
  • The Hobbit

    The Hobbit
Having been introduced to The Hobbit in fourth grade by a substitute teacher, I was delighted to find it in my high school library and read it more than once.
  • The Lord of the Rings

    The Lord of the Rings
After The Hobbit it was only natural to continue reading The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I have reread it many times in my adult life.
  • Wuthering Heights

    Wuthering Heights
In college I went through a phase of reading classics. Wuthering Heights is still a beloved book.
  • Anna Karenina

    Anna Karenina
My classics readings continued. I read Anna Karenina on my honeymoon aboard a cruise ship. It seemed to cast a pall upon my marriage.
  • Ender's Game

    Ender's Game
Reading Ender's Game opened up a new genre for me. Though I've always loved fairy tales and folk tales, science fiction was not a genre I considered a favorite. This book changed that.
  • A Walk in the Woods

    A Walk in the Woods
I have shared this book with many people since reading it and have not found anyone yet who didn't absolutely love it and enjoyed discussing it with me. Bill Bryson is very talented at what he does.
  • The Mists of Avalon

    The Mists of Avalon
My love of the King Arthur tale began anew with this version told through the eyes of Morgaine LeFay. Rich fantasies with strong female characters are an escape form of reading.
  • Life of Pi

    Life of Pi
It's not that I didn't enjoy this book, I devoured it, but the ending made me angry. So I have put this on my most hated book list because I felt deceived by what I was reading. I've found a few other books that have evoked this same response in myself. Because this book is so loved by so many it has made it interesting to discuss it with others who didn't feel the same way as I did.
  • The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane
The power of storytelling is life changing in such a simple tale about a toy rabbit. A tale for all ages that will stay with you.
