Birth
When my mommy and daddy loved each other very much they made me! Then nine months later I was born! You could say this is the true beginning of my literary journey! -
My Grandmother starts reading me books.
The one book a remember most vividly from my childhood is "The Monster At The End Of This Book" by Jon Stone and illustrated by Michael Smolin. She would act the book out with funny voices, different dynamics, and funny actions like spooking me. It's one of my favorite memories and I can't wait to read the book to my children and my grandchildren. -
Grandmother reads me the Greek myths.
I remember her reading me these to sleep. Some of my favorite myths were Icarius and Persephone and Hades. She tended to fall asleep while reading them too and I would always have to wake her up to continue reading them to me. -
The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
This poem was the first poem I remember reading. My grandmother had me memorize it when I was very young because she felt it taught an extremely important lesson that I should hold onto. At the time I remember finding it annoying, but now I agree with her and I have followed her advice. -
Read my first book series, the Magic Tree House! (by Mary Pope Osborne)
This series is the first one I vividly remember reading and falling in love with. I found all the books truly entertaining and would constantly find myself reading them for hours on end. I also remember getting mad whenever the next one in the series was already taken out of the library. -
Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech
I remember reading this book in Mrs. Giles' class and I held a strange connection with it. I related to it in my own personal ways so it holds it's own spot in my heart and memory. -
First book of Middle School, The Marbury Lens!
This was my first "big kid" book that I read! May have been a little too graphic for me at the time, but I handled it well and I fell in love with this book! Though it may have been a little too grown up for me at the time I still think of this book as one of my favorites. So much so I bought the sequel! Though I never actually finished it. -
The 5th Wave
This novel is probably one of the most romantic books I've ever read... If you can even call it that. This book is so interesting and gives a unique at an apocalyptic future. I also fell in love with this book so much I bought the sequel for it, but I've sadly never had the time to read it. -
The Darkest Path by Jeff Hirsch
The Darkest Path is another book that I related to, but in an even stranger way than any other book I have read. It's another apocalyptic future so how I can relate to it is unbelievable, but the main character always struck me as a relatable person with all of his actions that he would commit. If there was a sequel to this book I'd probably buy a hundred because this is also one of my favorite novels of all time. -
Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson
The novel that brings one of people's secret fears to life. Evil Superheroes. Imagining and experiencing the fear and struggles of trying to take down almost immortal beings with only a couple of people is so captivating. One of my favorite novels. -
Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night by Dylan Thomas
This poem brings me to tears every time I read it. Even discussing it now makes me feel like crying. When I read this poem I think of my mother and all the struggles she has gone through by herself and how blessed I am to be her daughter which may sound strange, but it makes me love this poem even more than I already do. -
IT by Stephen King
Another novel that I weirdly related to, but this time because of the conflicts the Loser's Club faced together. I felt like I had a piece of all of them in me because they seemed to be going through the same extreme emotional tests as I was at the time. I'd probably credit this book and the 2017 movie as saving my life at the time so, though it may not be one of my favorites, it still holds a very important spot in my heart. -
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
Another novel I'd credit with saving my life in a weird way. My sophomore year of high school was a dramatic and difficult one which I don't like to look back too much on, but I do vividly and fondly remember reading this novel and the way I felt when I would read it. It was also one of the first books that made me feel so many emotions as I progressed through it. Absolutely one of my favorites. -
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Another novel that would make me feel every emotion possible every time I would read it. I remember the main character making me want to find them and beat them up and then a couple chapters later make me want to cry and hug them because I wouldn't be able to imagine experiencing what he was. Absolutely a standard setting novel when it comes to experiencing emotions when reading any novel. -
I Am Offering This Poem by Jimmy Santiago Baca
When I read this poem I don't think of it as it's true sad form, but rather, I think of it as a couple who doesn't have a lot of money in order to show how much they truly do love each other and so they write each other things like this to do so. Looking at it like this it makes me think of my boyfriend and I because we are kind of that couple.
