One of the biggest things that influenced me as a reader was seeing my mom love reading so much. She always had a book in hand and we always had story time at the end of the day...or in the middle of the day...or at the beginning of the day...or all three!

During elementary school, I spend lots of time in the library and find many favorite books including Hatchet, Nancy Drew mysteries, Mandy books, and ghost stories.

When I was in 5th grade, they introduced Accelerated reader at my school. I started to read for points instead of reading for fun. I racked up a lot of points, but it turned me off to reading for several years.

When I go to college, I really start to learn how to read nonfiction and figured out some strategies that worked for me.

Now that I have my own daughter, I'm figuring out how to pass on a love of reading.
