A scrabble-like board game, first published in 1982, diverging with the ability to stack letters on the board. As a child with a keen interest in reading and writing, I loved showing off all the words I knew.

A life simulation and one of my first and favourite games on the Wii. I think Animal Crossing games have near-universal appeal but I particularly loved the custom clothing feature, which was possibly my first experience of digital art.

A 2006 Mario series DS platformer that switches Mario and Peach's narrative roles. Though I played this game much later than it released, the role reversal remained new and exciting; I was enamoured with the idea of a feminine, female protagonist.

Skyward Sword was the first Zelda game I played and, as a child, I loved the way the Wii's motion controls put a sword in my hand. More than this, however, I adored the game's visuals; the brightly coloured, beautiful world appealed to my love of the fantasy genre.

Unravel was the first game Xbox One game I played. I find the way the stunning visuals, subtle narrative, and evocative soundtrack work together to create an emotional journey of an experience highly inspiring.

Despite Portal's success closer to its release, (2007) I never played it until I acquired the Xbox One port. I greatly admire the cohesion between Portal's narrative and gameplay, and the subsequent immersion it offers. Portal solidified my love of puzzle-platformers and it remains one of my favourite games to this day.

I'm currently playing Mario Maker. I enjoy seeing the creative and intricate level designs of others, and I hope my ability to create levels of my own will improve with this course!
