With Franz Ferdinand now assassinated and World War I has started, the Germans stormed Reims, France and destroyed major portions of this iconic Gothic building. As being the memorable place where monarchs were crowned. France was angered by Germany even more and eventually rebuilt it after the war passed.

The Great War ends and the allied powers (basically just France) punish Germany by multiple circumstances one being blaming the entire war on them. France had a problem with Germany after things like burning down that cathedral (just example, obviously bigger reasons) and ultimately wanted revenge.

Germany faced a huge depression after the consequences of the Treaty of Versailles. With no land or military power, they would look for any leader to attempt to get the country rolling again. Adolf Hitler starts to get listened to by the citizens, eventually making him leader. He turns Germany into a fascist state, inspired the neighboring ideas of Benito Mussolini in Italy.
