Treaty of Paris

Treaty of Paris Information Page Great Britain obtained all land in Canada that it did not already own and all land East of the Mississippi River. France gace it's Louisiana Terriotry to Spain, to keep them as an ally. The Frech were left with nothing but hope for the 13 colonies to revolt.

First Continental Congress

First Continental Congress Info. PageElected Delegates from each colony,except Georgia, met in Philidelphia. They were there to discuss the Intolerable Acts of Britain . They had three objectives; to create a statement of colonial rights, to identify British parliaments violation of those rights, and to provide a plan that would convince Britain to restore those rights.

Lexington and Concord

Information WebsiteThe British had a plan to destroy military supplies at Concard, near Boston. They Americans wanted independance and got into a hearted arguement. The British fired a shot and the Colonist fled.

Second Continental Congress Information Site The Congress met in Philidelphia and assumed the powers of the central government and conduct the war that had begun in Lexington. The Congress chose George Washington as commander in cheif. Washington could keep the South and Middle colonies from the conflict.

Battle of Bunker Hill

Battle of Bunker Hill Information site The British discovered the American Troops occupied Breed's Hill over looking Boston. As the British approached, the Americans turned back two British attacks, and then ran out of ammunition. The American Militia stood up to professional troops.

The Olive Branch Petition The Olive Branch Petition was a attempt to give rights to the colonists while maintaning loyalty to Britain. It was drafted by John Dickinson and was adopted by the Second Continental Congress, but King George refused to read it.

Full Common Sense Document A published document written by Thomas Paine who arrived from England. He attacked the King George III, which was the main bond between American and Britain. He defined the advantages America would have if they were free from Britain. He divided America into Loyalist and Patriots.

Declaration of Independance

Declaration of Independance Youtube Video This stated the colonies as independant states. Thomas Jefferson drafted the original copy of the Declaration. It was a formal explanation as to why they were now independant from Britain.

Valley Forge

Velley Froge Description George Washington and his troops stayed at Velley Froge after the Defeat at Trenton and Princeton. They had very little supplie, many of the men were sick and were not properly clothed. They began building log cabins. Although it was a tough winter, it made the amry stronger.

Princeton

Battle of PrincetonGeneral Howe sent General Charles Cornwallis with 8000 soldiers to capture Washington's force. Washington and his troops pretended to be trapped and then slipped away to surprise British troops at Princeton.

Trenton

The Battle of TrentonTrenton was held by 1300 Hessians under command of Colonel Johann Gottlieb Rall. Washington guessed that German troops would be celebrating christmas and the morning after surprised them with attack by capturing and killing more than 1000 Hessians.
