    -Size: At two weeks, the size of a pin head.
    -Egg attaches to lining of uterus.
    -The heart begins to beat.
  • Month 2

    Month 2
    -Size: About 1/4 inch (6mm) long as month begins.
    -Face, eyes, ears, and limbs take shape.
    -Bones begin to form.
  • Month 3

    Month 3
    -Size: About 1 inch (25mm) long as month begins.
    -Buds for all 20 baby teeth appear.
    -All organs present but still immature.
  • Month 4

    Month 4
    -Size: About 3 inches (7.6cm) long, weighs 1 ounce (28g) as month begins.
    -Can suck its thumb, swallow, hiccup, and move around.
    -Facial features become clearer.
  • Month 5

    Month 5
    -Size: About 61/2-7 inches (16-18cm) long, weighs about 4-5 ounces (113-142g) as month begins.
    -Hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows appear.
    -Organs are maturing.
  • Month 6

    Month 6
    -Size: About 8-10 inches (21-25cm) long, weighs about 8-12 ounces (227-340g) as month begins.
    -Fat deposits under skin, but fetus appears wrinkled.
    -Breathing movements begin.
  • Month 7

    Month 7
    -Size: About 10-12 inches (25-31cm) lolng, weighs about 11/2-2 pounds (680-907g) as month begins.
    -Has periods of activity followed by periods of rest and quiet.
  • Month 8

    Month 8
    -Size: About 14-16 inches (36-41cm) long, weighs about 21/2-3 pounds (1.0-1.4kg) as month begins.
    -May react to loud noises with a reflex jerking action.
    -Moves into a head-down position.
  • Month 9

    Month 9
    -Size: About 17-18 inches (43-46cm) long, weighs about 5-6 pounds (2.3-2.7kg) as month begins.
    -Movements decrease as the fetus has less room to move around.
    -Descends into pelvis, ready for birth.
