    Mrs. Mellark (Peeta's mother) catches Katniss digging for food in their garbage cans, and tells her to go away. Peeta helps Katniss by burning the loaves, and then giving them to her, saving the Everdeen family from starvation, and giving them hope.

    Mrs. Everdeen helps Katniss by making her look nice for the reaping and letting Katniss use some of her old clothes that were special to her. Because Mrs. Everdeen's family growing up wasn't poor, their clothes were made nicely, so it is hard reliving those days compared to when her life after her husband died.

By having a crush on each other, it would make sponsors want to see how far they will make it together in the Hunger Games. It will also make the Games more entertaining, which is what the Capitol is aiming to do.

    Haymitch and Katniss's sponsors help Katniss because they supply ointment to treat her burns. Katniss got the burns from a fireball, and they really hurt, but she was trying not to show it. Not getting treatment for the burns would make her not able to move as quickly, which would result in her being a vunerable target for other tributes.
