    I Have A Dream
    Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have A Dream" speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. During the March on Washington, King delivered to over 250,000 civil right supporters. King's intention of the speech was to stop the hatred and end racism in the United States.
  • JFK Assassinated

    JFK Assassinated
    President Kennedy and First Lady Jaqueline Kennedy were riding in the presidential motorcade through Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas. Texas was an important state to campaign in if Kennedy wanted to be reelected. Around 12:30, shots fired and President Kennedy fell sideways. He was rushed to the closest hospital, but it was too late. Kennedy was declared dead.

    On the same day of Kennedy's assassination, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn into presidency on the plane back to Washington.

    MLK Survives Assassination Attempt
    In Memphis, Tennessee, King and fellow members of the Civil Rights Movement stayed at the Lorraine Motel. Shots were targeted at Dr. King but fortunately, the shooter misfired. The suspect was later declared fugitive James Earl Ray. He was later sentenced 99-years prison term.

    This was the day that President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Passing the civil rights bill meant that discrimination based on race, religion, sex, or national orign was banned. Discrimination was banned in all public places.

    After the assassination attempt, King decides to run for president. A year after JFK'S assassination, Martin takes a risk, and chooses to campain near the premicise where Kennedy was shot. Reverend campaigned mostly in the south, but concluded campaigning in Texas, first would leave a bigger impact on the country.

    Birth of Lindsay Martha King
    When King was 42, he didn't know when another attempt would come across him again. Coretta and King agreed on having another child. And on December 13th, their creation, Lindsay Martha King was born.

    Our first African American president is inaugurated on January 20th, 1969. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. made history becoming the first black president. As a democratic, King had an easy win against Republican Richard Nixon. In addition, he was part of the Civil Rights Movement, and supported equality for all. Majority of his voters came from civil right supprters.

    After being in office for two terms and remebering his near death experience back in 1964, the former president traveled across the country to inspire other citizens across the US. The speech in Springfield, Illinois was his second best compared to his "I Have A Dream" speech in Washington. If he had died on April 4th, 1964, would his dream; young white girls and boys be seen as equal with young black girls and boys, have ever come true?

    50 years after King was targeted, he and Coretta appeared on Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network. On her show, he answered questions about life and his accomplishments he has achieved during his 85 years on Earth. Dr. King quoted "What if I had been murdered? But I am glad God saw fate to let me live on, to see what me and my fellow memebers worked for. I truly am blessed."
