Was married to James Warren. A prosperous merchant, farmer and son of the sheriff of Plymouth County, Plymouth, Massachusetts. He was a Harvard graduate and colleague of her brother. He was a descendant of the Mayflower passenger Richard Warren.

After this act was passed down, Mercy got very furious and went aganist this act. She protest about this so much! Since she loves writing stories and plays and the act says we have to pay for any written material, she still had the determination and wrote many other books, plays and stories.

When Mercy heard that this lady, Lydia Chapen Taft, was on of the first women to vote Massachusetts. She got furious and wanted to vote because she also lived in Massachusetts.

Two of her plays insulted the Loyalists. She said that Britain's laws and taxes were unfair and that families in the colonies couldn't pay for expensive British goods. She also said that Britain was too far away to understand the colonists' rights and needs.
