Megan's reading timeline!

By mllamb
  • Megan Lamb was born

  • Cinderella, cinderella!

I couldn't read much, but my favorite book was Cinderella! I made my parents read it to me every night.
  • Dr. Suess's Left Foot, Right Foot

The first book I read all by myself!
  • My sister was born!

My favorite thing to do was play teacher with her. I read her every book I could find, and she was the perfect student until around age 3.
  • Book Fair Madness

I went crazy at bookfair's. I remember not having enough money in Kindergarten to buy Where the Wild Things Are, so my teacher called my mama (who worked at the Board of Education), and she came by just to get me the book. Completely spoiled.
  • Kindergarten fun.

In Kindergarten, we made our own books. We wrote the words and colored the pictures, then our teacher binded the stories together and gave them to us as gifts at the end of the year.
  • My First AR Points

My school was a little behind on AR, but in first grade our teacher read us The Boxcar Children (a little bit each day). When we were finished, we each took an AR test and recieved our first AR points!
  • AR Student of the Year

I worked REALLY hard in 5th grade just so I could be the AR student of the year. Barely beat one of my best friends, but I did it--and, I realized I had an ever so slight overpowering competive streak.
  • What happened??

This just in! Middle school meant it wasn't cool to read anymore. I made just high enough on my AR placement test so I could make the minimum amount of points while still being in the Advanced Lit classes.
  • Lemony Snicket Series

Even though I tried not to show it, I still loved reading and managed to read the entire Lemony Snicket Series in middle school.
  • Mrs. Mary Ann Ellis

In 11th grade I went from hating English class to loving the subject. This teacher turned my whole life around and I made sure to read every book she assigned in its entirety.
  • Mr. Faulkner and I

After reading As I Lay Dying in 11th Grade, reading more Faulkner became a priority. I read 3 more of his novels 12th grade! *Light In August, Sound and the Fury, & Absalom, Absalom
  • The English Cup

My Senior Year I won the English Cup. One of my proudest moments in high school, right after getting my braces off.
