Unfortunately, the President's term was never completed as he was assassinated in what will be remembered as one of the nation's darkest days. Many generally did not trust the government, opposed the Vietnam War, rejected the values of the generation before them.

One of the most polarizing topics of the decade was the Civil Rights Movement. This movement sparked many conversations about the unethical treatment of African Americans in our country and led to many political reforms due to Martin Luther King Jr's leadership in the movement. Unfortunately, he was assassinated in the tail end of the decade.
