Mary Mcleod Betune was born on july 10, 1875 on a tiny farm at Maysville South Carolinea.

Bethune couldn't go to school until 1885.Aschool opened for black children. So her parents decided to let her go.

She taught a school for black girls in a place called Daytona Beach, Florida. she soon got named after a college thats now named Bethune Cookmen College.

Thedore Rosevelt invited her to National Youth Adminitration. Before that she had founded the National Counicil of negro women.

Mary died on May 18, 1995 although she had a wonderful life.
