  • First Reading Experience

    First Reading Experience
My first reading experience was when I was about 5 years old. In Kindergarten, I began to learn how to read and my family would practice with me often. My mom is a big reader and she would even read what she was reading aloud sometimes.
  • My Favorite Childhood Book

    My Favorite Childhood Book
My first and favorite book that I could read by myself was called I Love You Forever by Robert Munsch
  • My Favorite Book Series

    My Favorite Book Series
My favorite book series that I actually enjoyed reading consecutively was the Magic Tree House series. I think this was a huge step for me because it was the first time that I was able to follow along with a series and it really had a positive effect on my reading.
  • Positive Reading Experience

    Positive Reading Experience
During elementary school, I had so many positive reading experiences that I actually enjoyed reading. I tried really hard to improve my reading skills and even practiced at home. I was really motivated by my third-grade teacher especially because she made reading very fun for the class.
  • Middle School Reading Experience

    Middle School Reading Experience
In middle school was one of my first negative experiences with reading. It was the first time that I had to read something for a class, that I did not like. It was different because I was not reading books that I enjoyed and it discouraged my liking for books. One of the books that I disliked during this time was Lord of the Flies by William Golding.
  • My Reading Role Model

    My Reading Role Model
My mom is one of my reading role models because she enjoys all types of reading. For most of my life, my mom has enjoyed books and it is motivating to see someone like books so genuinely. My journey with reading has not always been pleasant, but I can say that it has been affected subconsciously by my mom.
  • High School AP Classes

    High School AP Classes
In high school, I took some AP English classes and I began to enjoy the material that I was reading. I had a different taste and feeling about reading. I liked different books than I would have previously and I was enjoying the new genres and books that I was exposed to. One of the books that were assigned for my class that I enjoyed so much is called The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
