Northwest Ordinance
An act of Congress that created the Northwest Territory. The territory consisted of present-day Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin, as well as some parts of Minnesota.
Fun Fact: The territory created either all of or parts of 6 different states.

Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Territory was sold to the U.S. from France in 1803, at the very cheap cost of $15 million. The territory included land 15 present-day U.S. states and 2 Canadian provinces. Napoleon sold the land to the U.S. because he wanted nothing to do with North America.
