    The first ship to sail through the new Panama Canal was the Alexandre La Valley. This project took about 20,000 men to work on and cost about $234,795,000 to build.

    The Roaring 20's was a time of great economic growth and widespread prosperity. It also was a time where there was a large use of automobiles, telephones, motion pictures, and electricty.

    The Great Depression was a severe worldwide economic depression. Unemployment rose to 25%. One major event during this time was the Stock Market Crash. The Stock Market Crash is when investors were selling stocks at rapid paces.

    Adolph Hitler was the leader of the terrorism group, The Nazis, this attack by the Nazis was called The Holocaust. WWII resulted with about 50 to 85 million fatalities.

    The Cold War was a sustained state of political and military tension. The name "Cold War" was coined by the English writer George Orwell, after the dropping of the first atomic bombs in 1945.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    At 7:48 A.M 353 Japenese bombers, submariens, and aircraft fighters attacked on Hawaii's base. All eight U.S Navy Battleships were damaged.

    The Korean War lasted three years and two days. The U.S. provided 88% of the 341,000 international soldiers which aided South Korean forces.

    The Vietnam War was a Cold War-era military conflict that occurred in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from November 1st 1955 to the fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975. In Vietnam the war is called the American War.
  • Imperialism (Acquistion of Hawaii)

    Imperialism (Acquistion of Hawaii)
    President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the Hawaii Admission Act on March 18, 1959 which allowed for Hawaiian statehood. Later, after a vote in which 93% voted in favor of Hawaii statehood, Hawaii was declared a state on August 21st 1959.
  • The Gulf War

    The war is also known under other names, such as the Persian Gulf War, First Gulf War, Gulf War I, or the First Iraq War, The result of the Jeddah talks was an Iraqi demand for $10 billion to cover the lost revenues from Rumaila; the Kuwaiti response was to offer $9 billion. The Iraqi response was to immediately order the invasion. On 2 August 1990, Iraq launched the invasion by bombing Kuwait's capital, Kuwait City.
  • 9/11

    9/11
    Four passenger airliners were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists so they could be flown into buildings in suicide attacks. Two of those planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were crashed into the North and South towers, respectively, of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. A third plane, American Airlines Flight 77, was crashed into the Pentagon leading to a partial collapse in its western side.

    Operation Enduring Freedom" (OEF) is the official name used by the U.S. government for the War in Afghanistan. The Operation Enduring Freedom was a response to the attacks on 9/11.

    The Iraq War was an armed conflict in Iraq that consisted of two phases. The first was an invasion of Iraq starting on March 20th 2003 by an invasion force led by the United States. It was followed by a longer phase of fighting, in which an insurgency emerged to oppose the occupying forces and the newly formed Iraqi government.
