  • Berlin Airlift (Begins)

    Berlin Airlift (Begins)
    It was shortly after WW2 had ended. Stalin blocked off all of the water/roadways to Berlin. To rebel, Western Allies sent tons of supplies on planes to Berlin to supply them a different way. This was very successful, because eventually Stalin called off the blockades to Berlin.
  • Korean War begins.

    Korean War begins.
    It was 1950, and Korea has always been quiet in terms of war. WW2 had divided Korea into North Korea and South K. North Korea got highly tired of the border, and decided to attack the South Koreans. The Allies (including us) helped push back this attack. This started a war that lasted 3 years, and no one really won the Korean War, although we did accomplish our mission.
  • Emmett Till Murder

    Emmett Till Murder
    Emmett Till was born July 25, 1941. He was killed August 28th, 1955 It all started when he went into a grocery store, flirted with a white woman, and was hunted down by 2 men afterwards. He was killed later that day, (brutally), and was found 3 days later in a river nearby. This case was heard all around the nation because of its heartbreaking story.
  • Little Rock Nine

    Little Rock Nine
    Little Rock Nine was a group of (9) black students that entered Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. They were capable of doing this because of the successful "Brown V Board of Education" case, in which segregation in schools was outlawed. These 9 children all eventually made it out, although there was constant name calling, and one of the 9 even got suspended!
  • JFK Elected President

    JFK Elected President
    The year is 1960 and Kennedy was finally elected as president. He was very unique as a president. Reasons being, he never really wanted war, he was always peaceful and ready at a moment's notice. He was always more ready than Nixon was, and that was probably what won him the election. Kennedy was eventually assasinated during a campaign race in Dallas, Texas on November 22nd, 1963.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    The Cuban Missile Crisis was a fourteen day stare competition where the Soviets started building up missiles/nukes in Cuba. This worried Americans, because if they decided to launch these missiles, we would have hardly any warning, and for sure would turn into nuclear war. Kennedy set up a naval blockade, so the Soviets couldn't get into Cuba. This was successful, because the Soviets took down the missiles.
  • Kennedy Assassinated

    Kennedy Assassinated
    The date was November 22nd, and Kennedy was in Dallas, Texas. He was simply trying to get electoral votes for the upcoming election, next year. As his car was turning the corner to leave the city after greeting all the fans, etc, He was shot through the neck. Seconds later, he was shot a second time, which killed him. Everyone figured out the killer, and his name was Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald was killed 2 days later, when a man came from a crowd (Jack Ruby) and shot him through the stomach.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Assassinated

    Martin Luther King Jr. Assassinated
    Martin Luther King Jr. Was a very important leader in the Civil Rights Movement, because of all of his smart speeches, and all of the black Americans loved him. He was killed on the balcony of a motel he stayed at in Memphis, Tennessee. His killer was James Earl Ray, and he probably killed him because of his race and what he was trying to do for it.
  • First Moon Landing

    First Moon Landing
    The 2 men were named Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong. They had high expectations on their back, because they could bring back useful things from the Moon, like information about it. They successfully landed on July 20, 1969. When Neil first landed on the moon, he said the famous quote "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Neil Armstrong eventually died just recently on August 25th, 2012. Buzz Aldrin is still alive to this day.
  • Watergate Scandal

    The year is 1972 and all is peaceful at the Democratic Headquarters in the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C. That is, until multiple people break in to the headquarters and attempt to steal information. They were eventually caught because of the tape they had on the doorknobs, etc. Nixon got in major trouble for this, and it was later found out that he was guilty for the whole scandal, and he resigned 2 years later.
  • U.S Exits Vietnam

    U.S Exits Vietnam
    The U.S has been at war with North Vietnam for YEARS, and finally it's coming to an end. the plan of "Vietnamization" pulled out a lot of troops from Vietnam. The war was between North Vietnam and South Vietnam + USA. The Fall of Saigon marked the official ending of the Vietnam War. It was a bloody, long war, but we really came on top at the end of it all.
  • Nixon Resigns from Office

    Nixon Resigns from Office
    The Watergate Scandal must have scared Nixon like crazy, because he eventually decided to resign from office in August of 1974. They found his tape recordings and he was guilty of the Watergate Scandal, and instead of going to jail, he resigned from office and did not run for re-election.
  • Berlin Wall comes down

    Berlin Wall comes down
    The wall that seperated the 2 different sides of Berlin finally came down for the reason of they both became friends again. The wall was originally made so that no one from the West Berlin could get to East Berlin, and vice versa. They eventually decided to take the wall down November 9th 1989. (That is when the official demolition started.)
  • 9/11 Attacks on Twin Towers

    9/11 Attacks on Twin Towers
    It was all peaceful in America, New York specifically, when all of a sudden, all chaos broke loose. Al-Qaeda had devised a plan to attack the Twin Towers, and they hijacked two of our planes, and they did just what they planned to do. They knocked out both of the towers, they both fell. There were two other planes, one hit the Pentagon and the other landed in a field somewhere in Pennsylvania. This was a devastating attack on America and we got Al-qaeda back by killing Osama Bin Laden.
  • Barack Obama elected president

    Barack Obama elected president
    It was Obama+Biden vs. McCain+Palin. Nobody really seemed to like McCain, and Obama had lots of plans for an American future. Obama did win the election in 2008 by a good score, and he did win re-election in 2012 vs Romney.
