  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    British Soldiers went to Lexington to arrest Samuel Adams and John Hancock. There were only 70 miniutemen to go up against 900 British Soldiers. It is unknown who fired the first shot. Eight Colonists were killed and nine were wounded. When the British troops arrived at Concord they were met by a large group of miniutemen. At Concord the British fired the first shot. The Colonists won this battle and sent the British back to Boston.
  • The Siege of Fort Ticonderoga

    The Siege of Fort Ticonderoga
    A small-scale attack. Benedict Arnold joined Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys in an attack at dawn on the fort, They surprised and captured the sleeping garrison. It was the first American victory. Little to no Casualties, only one colonist was captured.
  • The Battle of Bunker (Breeds) Hill

    The Battle of Bunker (Breeds) Hill
    The colonists heard of General Thomas Gage's plan to station troopson Bunker Hill so they moved to the top of the nearby Breed Hill. When Gage ordered his men to drive the colonist away he told them not to fire unless they could see the white of their eyes. Over 1,000 British soldiers were killed or wounded, while only 397 colonists were killed or wounded. Despite the difference in casualties the British won the battle because the colonists retreated.

    The Battle of Trenton
    The colonists lect Hackensac in November of 1776, and hid behind the Delaware River. The British wanted clothing and a sense of defeat so they set out to find the colonists. The Casualties from this battle are, British: 22 killed, 86 wounded, and 906 captured, Colonists: 2 killed, 5 wounded, and 0 captured. The colonists won this battle.
  • Battle of Oriskany

    Battle of Oriskany
    This was one of the bloodiest battles of the American Revolutionary War. The British attempted to raise the siege, but the colonists ambushed their force. One of the few battles in which almost all the participants were Native Americans. The colonists won this battle.
  • The First Battle of Saratoga

    The First Battle of Saratoga
    Known as "The Battle of Freeman's Farm." Stared in the afternoon and lasted until sunset. The Americans improved their defenses. The British were the "Masters of the Field" although the loss was about 500 to 600 men on both sides. Burgoyne lost two men for every one on the American side.

    The Battle of Saratoga(Bemis Heights)
    The British had 300 killed, 370 wounded, and 5900 captured while the Colonists had 30 killed, 100 wounded, and none captured. Burgoyne was determined to break free from the encircling colonial forces and drive them out of the field. Benedict Arnold wounded his leg during this battle while fighting on horseback. The Colonists won this battle.
  • Battle of Cowpens

    Battle of Cowpens
    Turning point in the war's Southern campaign. Americans inflicted many casualties on the British. Colonists won this battle. Casualties; British 110 killed, 200 wounded, and 712 captured. Colonists: 25 killed, 124 wounded, and 0 captured.
  • Battle of Guilford Courthouse

    Battle of Guilford Courthouse
    Cornwallis abandoned his campaign for the Carolinas and took his army into Virginia. British troops scored a victory although they suffered significant toop losses during the battle. Casualties; British: 93 killed, 413 wounded, and 26 captured. Colonists: 79 killed, 185 wounded, and 75 captured.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of  Yorktown
    James Armistead, an American spy, said that Britain was waiting for supplies in Yorktown. As a result the navy set up a blockade of British ships. By the time Cornwallis found out he was already surrounded by the colonists. Cornwallis tried to make a getaway by ship but the French navy blocked him. Casualties from this battle; British: 309 killed, 326 wounded, and 8007 captured. Colonists: 72 killed, 108 wounded, and 0 captured. The French and colonists won this battle.
