    Magna Carta Site King John of England signed it...In the kingdom of England.
    Rights that were given is that the king could not take land unless a council of men agreed with him. It also limited the power and authority of the monarch and preserving all the legal rights of a free man in England.

    The purpose of the Mayflower Compact was to ensure everyone that got off the Mayflower and landed at the Plymoth Rock would have a fair goverment ruled by majority.
  • Petition of Rights

    Petition of Rights
    The petition of Rights is a major document that sets out specific liberties. This means the king is prohibited from infringing. The petition of Rights was prodduced by the parliament. The rights that were given to the people is no man should be forced to pay any tax or loan. Also no man should be imprisoned to the laws of the land, soldiers and sailors should not be billeted on private persons, to punish soldiers and sailors should be abolished. The document was signed by Charles I
  • Albany Plan of Union

    The Albany Plan of Union was a plan to place the British North American colonies under a more centralized goverment. A group of english officials suggested it but it was later drafted by Benjamin Franklin. The Albany Plan of Union didnt really happen because it was submitted to the lord of trade and plantations. They didnt approve nor reccomended it to the king because they thought there was too much democracy in it. The cartoon created by Benjamin Franklin called "Join or Die".

    A war that was fought between the colonies of British America and New France. The major players were British America and New France. Some of the major battles were Quebec, Louisbourg, and Montreal. The french won this conflict. It changed our relationship with britian because they cancelled the stamp act but did not stop taxing.

    King George III was a king of Great Britian and Ireland from october 25 1760 until january 1 1801. The French became upset when British settelers began arriving. Both France and Britian claimed the land. The french living in Canada began building a line of forts, the british colonist reacted as the French were preparing to attack. This started the French and Indian War.

    The stamp act was the first internal tax directed on American Colonist by the British goverment. The stamp act taxed all paper material/ paper documents. The colonial leaders were concerned as the stamp act was the first internal tax to be levied on the colonies.

    Was a politicol protest organized by the sons of liberty who were against tax policy.The british responeded to the event by making the Intolerable acts and closing boston ports.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The intolerable acts were a serious of laws passed by the British parliament in 1774. The British passed these laws because the debt from the French and Indian War became extreme and it served as a force of punishment for insulting parliament and interfering with trade.
  • First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress brought together representative from each of the colonies except for Georgia. All of the colonies were involved in the first continental congress. They were discussing the reactions of the intolerable act. This meeting took place in Philidelphia.

    The English Bill of Rights was a document that set a limit on what a ruler could or could not do. It also gives the people individual rights. John Adams vice president of the US, Fredrick Muhlenberg, speaker of the house of reps, John Bockley, clerk of the house of reps, Sam Otis, secretary of the senate. Rights that were given to the people were freedom from royal interference with the law.
