    French and Indian War
The colonists had won, but all of the debt Great Britain was in due to the war lead to them taxing even more than they already had making the colonists even more angry! The tensions were at their climax.

    Stamp Act
The stamp act enraged the colonists. Tensions grew which effected the American Revolution and potentially made it happen even faster.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    Stamp Act Congress
First congress of elected representatives that devised a plan to unify the colonies and protest against British taxation. "No taxation without representation."
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
The quartering act made colonists angry becuase they not only had to put up with the British soldiers, but they had to house them too. Even in the first ten ammendments the third ammendment is the protection from quartering soldiers.
  • Townshed Duties

    Townshed Duties
These laws were passed by Great Britain due to the fail of the quartering act. They had to raise even more revenue now to keep judges and governors loyal to Great Britain by paying them. Colonists thought that they should not have to pay for any taxes they do not want to represent.

  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
Had tea to only be distrubted by British East India Comapny because they were in debt and it was all taxed. Colonists were angry and smuggled tea in. It showed colonists that they can fight back and increased the protest participants, resulting in more and more fighting until the breaking point.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    1st Continental Congress
Convention of delegates of the 12 colonies met and discussed options to boycotting Britain and the Intolerable Acts; and even petitioned King George III to remove the laws. It was unsuccessful and merely quieted some laws. The colonies grew up to the point that they would go on an all out war because even a civil petition could not stop Britain from taxing them.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
Punishment for the Boston Tea Party was the main reason for these laws. Colonists were now under heavy watch, causing more disruption. The British obviously didn't know how to reason with the colonists. The constant pushing back and forth like this is what caused the American Revolution.
