    American revolution

    The American Revolution was the war for the independence of America. At the time they were opposed by the patriots who supported the revolution and the loyalist who supported the British. The war was between Britain and the North America Colonies. Loyalist supported Britain because they thought Britain had the right to impose taxes in return for protection during the seven years war.
  • Period: 1775 BCE to 1812 BCE

    Loyalist Migration

    the southern loyalist moved mostly to Florida often bringing along their slavs in 1776. Northern Loyalist largely migrated to Ontario, Quebec, New, Brunswick and Nova Scotia. They called themselves the United Empire Loyalist in 1789. In 1782 some loyalist got settle in the U.S.A., New York.Two of the principal settlements were the saint John river (New Brunswick) and Shellburne (Nova Scotia).
  • Sugar Act

    The sugar act was a time to place a tax on sugar, wine and other goods. The colonist who agreed with the parliament's point of view were the loyalist. They said that they could sell the products to other countries for more money . Other colonist felt this new law violated their rights as British citizens
  • Boston Massacre

    It was an incident in which many loyalist shot and killed people under attack by a mob. British troops had been stationed in Boston since 1768 in order to protect and support crown appointed colonial citizens.
