It also had a lot more firepower than the Dr1. It had not only two synchronized machineguns but could also caryy four bomb to become a fighter-bomber hybrid.
  • Sopwith Snipe Made

    Sopwith Snipe Made
Supposedly the "best plane in world war one", the snipe was built near the end so wasn't used for long.
It was the RAF standard fighter plane all the way up to 1925 however.

The Hunter was a very important aircraft. It was made a "super-priority" for the RAF and NATO with a huge 2000 built.
  • Hawker Siddely Harrier Made

    Hawker Siddely Harrier Made
The Hawker Harrier was the first VTOL aircraft. This meant that it could take off vertically - without a runway.
It is one of the most important aircraft built as it is so effective.
The US bought lots of them from the UK much later on.
They were the first "recent high-tech" planes built and had lots of fire power and were very fast too.
  • Hawker Sea Harrier Built

    Hawker Sea Harrier Built
The Sea Harrier was absolutely crucial in Britain's victory in the Falklands Conflict.
They were our only plane in the mini-war and were extremely effective.
The were like the normal Harrier with vertical takeoff but as they were newer they were better and more up-to-date.
The Sea Harrier was used to defend ships by taking off from them. Its vertical liftoff meant that it could take off quickly to defend the ship it was on.
It shot down 20 aircraft and only one was shot down by ground fire.
