  • 20's

    20's
    -Eat healthy! (reduces risk of heart disease and other chronic diseases)
    -Exercise regularly
    -Get important nutrients (such as protein, calcium, potassium, healthy omega-3, fats, and folic acid)
    -Don't smoke or do drugs
    -Get enough sleep
    -Wear helmets and seatbelts when needed
    -Have good hygiene (shower regularly)
    -Protect skin and eyes against sun
  • 30's

    30's
    -Maintain a healthy weight
    -Eat healthy! (Get enough vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean protein, low- or nonfat dairy)
    -Get necessary vitamins, minerals, and nutrients (iron, folic acid, calcium, potassium, B vitamins, vitamin D, fiber, and healthy omega-3 fats)
    -Exercise regularly (30-60 minutes of physical activity most days a week)
    -Get enough sleep
    -Don't smoke, use tobacco products, or do drugs
  • 40's

    40's
    -Get regular screenings and exams (check ups, dental, eye, blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, cancer, etc.)
    -Try to minimize stress
    -Get 30 minutes of physical exercise most days of the week
    -Get regular weight-bearing exercise
    -Eat healthy
    -Get enough sleep
    -Don't smoke, drink excessively, or smoke
    -Wear your seatbelt
    -Careful to prevent long term health issues! Check out family history to look at past diseases
  • 50's

    50's
    -Eat healthy! (cut down on salt, get fruits, vegetables, lean protein, healthy fats/omega-3s, whole grains, fiber, vitamins, and minerals)
    -Get 30-60 minutes of physical activity most days of the week (both aerobic and weight bearing)
    -Challenge your mind by learning a new skill or hobby
    -Maintain a healthy weight
    -Don't smoke or use tobacco
    -Get enough sleep
    -Reduce stress
    -Drink moderately
    -Get regular exams and screenings (check ups, dental, eye, blood pressure, etc)
  • 60's

    60's
    -Learn the warning signs for heart attacks and strokes
    -Don't smoking
    -Know blood pressure, total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, fasting blood glucose, body mass index, and waist circumference
    -Keep all of above factors in healthy range
    -Maintain a healthy weight
    -Exercise for 30 minutes most days of the week
    -Drink in moderation
    -Eat healthy (4-5 servings of fruits and veggies, 3 servings of whole grains, 2 or 3 low or non fat dairy products, etc)
    -Get regular exams and screenings
