He was apprenticed to the sculptor and painter Andrea del Verrocchio in Florence at age 14 or 15 years.

He became a member of the Brotherhood of San Lucas, at the age of 20.

He remained with Verrocchio until he reached the Masters in 1478. During that time , faced his first commissioned work , " The Adoration of the Magi " Florence for San Donato a Scopeto monastery.

He began chronicling his ideas about painting, architecture , mechanics and human anatomy. These notebooks contain powerful ideas , including plans for a " flying machine " , a bicycle and drawings of a fetus in the womb and the human skeleton.

" The Last Supper " by Leonardo , where he worked between 1492-1498 according to most accounts , was painted on the dining room wall of the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan.

The "Mona Lisa " is the best known work of Da Vinci and some adj historians argue that artistic achievement is its mayor.
It is believed that completing it was sometime between 1505 and 1507, but there are indications that Da Vinci continued working on it trying to achieve perfection. -

He left Italy 1516, when the French governor , Francisco I, offered him the opportunity to draw and paint at their own pace living in Cloux Castle , in a cottage near Aboise , France.

Leonardo died at Clos Lucé, on 2 May 1519.
Some 20 years after Leonardo's death, Francis was reported by the goldsmith and sculptor Benvenuto Cellini as saying: "There had never been another man born in the world who knew as much as Leonardo, not so much about painting, sculpture and architecture, as that he was a very great philosopher."
