  • Social Security

    -Founded by Franklin D. Roosevelt
    -Provides for the general welfare by establishing a system of Federal old-age benefits, and by enabling the several states to make adequate provision for aged persons, blind, dependent and crippled children, mental and child welfare, public health and the administration of their unemploument compensations.
    -Without this act those who have already paid their dues(the eldery) would have no way of money and those disabled would not have an income.
  • Equal Pay Act

    Enacted by Presdent John. F. Kennedy. The EPA is a loaw stating that men and women must get paid equally by their employers, without the EPA men and women would treated unfairly when getting paid.
  • Federal Privacy Act

    What? The FPA protects certain federal government records pertaining to individuals. In particular, the Act covers systems of records that an agency maintains and retrieves by an individual's name or other personal identifier.
    Who? The federal government established it
    Importance? It prohibits unauthorized disclosures of records and gives individuals the right to review records about themselves.
  • Employee Retirement Income Security Act

    congress created the Employee Retirement Income Security Act which is sets minimum standards for most voluntarily established pension and health plans in private industry to provide protection for individuals in these plans. ERISA requires plans to provide participants with plan information including important information about plan features and funding; provides fidcuiary responcibilities for those who manage and control plan assets; requires plans to establish a grievance and appeals process
  • Fair Labor Standards Act

    What? The FLSA establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and youth employment standards affecting employees in the private sector and in Federal, State, and local governments
    Who? Franklin D Roosevelt established it.
    Importnace? It helps regulate aspects for employees and makes sure they get the right compensation for how long they work and where they work.
  • Drug-Free Workplace Act

    The DFWA was enacted by Congress, it states that employers must provide a drug-free work zone for employees. With the DFWA employees would have bad working environments.
  • Employee polygraph protection act

    Attorney Gordon S. Vaughn created the Employee polygraph protection act to established guidelines for polygraph testing and imposed restriction on most private employers. Also, businesses cannot request, suggest or require any job applicant to take a pre-employment polygraph examination. businesses can request a current employee to take a polygraph examination or suggest to such a person that a polygraph examination be taken,
  • Family & Medical Leave Act

    -Enacted by the senate and the House of Representatives of the USA in congress assembled.
    -Entitiles eligible employees of convered employers to take unpaid, job-protected leave for specified famiy and medical reasons with continuation of group health insurance coverage under the same terms and conditions as if the employee had not taken leave.
    -It is important for when one gets pregnant or someone within a family gets sick so that an individual can take leave to care for that person.
