  • Social Security Act

    Created by Franklin D. Roosevelt to help those people who are unable to work. Act said "... enabling several states to make more adequate peovision for aged persons, blind persons, dependent and crippled children, maternal and child welfare, public health and the administration of their unemployment compensation laws."   • Fair Labor Standards Act

    Created and Signed by Franklin D. Roosevelt. It established minimum wage, overtime pay and record keeping. The importance of the act was to manage minimum wage payments. Without this, employers could pay workers pennies and not face legal punishment.
  • Employment Retirement Income Security Act

    Created by Congress to help create pension plans for private industries. Without it, anyone could get a pension plan without qualifying.
  • Equal Pay Act

    Created by the Senate and Hosue of Representatives and signed by John F. Kennedy. Created to prohibit sex-based wage discrimination. With this act, employers cannot discriminate against gender. Employers can no linger pay men more that women legallly.
  • Federal Privacy Act

    Created by United States Congress to keep personal information private and disclosed, It requires that all records are accurate and unable to be released.
  • Drug- Free Workpalce Act

    Created by hte US Department of Labor (DOL). It removes alol drug useers from teh workplace to provede a safe, drug-free environment. Pople who use drugs cannot be employed and receive employee benefits.
  • Employee Polygraph Protection Act

    Created by the United States Department of Labor. Prevents employers from giving unnecessary polygraph (lie) tests with certain exceptions. Exceptions being: can only be used when the businness, employer or employees are physically or fiancially harmed.
  • Family and Medical Leave Act

    Created by United States Congress to cover unpaid, job-protected leave for a specifies family or medical reason. It protects employees from unfair work; such as a pregnant woman working a hard, laborous job.
