    • It protects you and your family. It takes care of welfare, and public health work.
  • Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938

    Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938
    The act was passed in 1938 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. This act stated that there will be a maximum 44 hour, seven day workweek, it established minimum wage, gauranteed "time-and-a-half" for overtime in certain jobs, and it also prohibited most employment for minors. Without this act, we wouldn't have minimum wageand minors would be hired in unsafe places.

    Equal Pay Act of 1963
    This act was passed in 1963 by President John F. Kennedy, This act stated that it was going to abolish wage differences because of sex (gender). This act is important because without it, the payments to the employees could be distributed to girls and guys differently, regardless if they're in the same position, without any questions asked.

    -Without it people wouldnt have enough money to retire.

    -The act says that some federal contractors and ALL Federal grantees have to provide a drug-free work[lace before recieving a contract or grant from a Federal agency.
    -Without the act people woul be high and doing drugs while on the job.

    • The Act generally prevents employers engaged in interstate commerce from using lie detector tests either for pre-employment screening or during the course of employment, with certain exemptions.
    • Life without the act would be like somebody is invading your privacy.

    -this act makes it possible for employees of covered employers to take unpaid, job-protected leave for specific family and medical reasons, with continuation of group health insurance coverage under the same terms and conditions as if the employee had not taken leave.
    -Without is, families would not be supplied with the money they need whenever they are going through tough times that result from specific events.
