    I always knew being creative and having students do hands on activities was fun and interesting. However, I didn't know the research and positive impact behind it, such as cognitive development, improvement on social and listening skills, and improvement across all core subjects.

    Kevin Kammeraad came in to our EDI 632 class to apply and model integration of arts in education. He showed us various ways to increase student participation such as writing memory poems, using puppets, and incorporating songs.

    I had never heard of a wiki page before. I did find the wiki page useful for group collaboration, participation, and communication. Although wiki is not my top preference as technology I am grateful I know how to use it. You never know maybe my future employer will require me to use it as well.

    A collegue introduce me to pinterest. I have since used pinterest as a resource to get teaching ideas.

    Learning about the inquiry teaching method help me understand how important it is to ask students essential questions. It also taught me to increase my waiting time after asking a question. Finally, it encourage me ask higher thinking questions to help students answer their own questions.

    I learned about the importance of a formative assessment. Formative assessments gives the teacher feedback on how much students know. It detects misconceptions. It evaluates students comprehension.

    I love music. I learned the great impacts it has on all humans. Something I found interesting was that music can really improve your reading skills. Some schools are using music as a resource to help there low readers.

    Dr. Storey had such a passion for books it became contagious. I too love books. Children literature is my favorite. I read to my daughter every night. It is my goal to read as much as possible to my future students. I belief reading is vital skill to have.

    Our music group taught a lesson on world music. The students seem to really enjoy it. All students could connect to our lesson, we had great participation from our students. It was a phenomenal learning experience.

    As I was searching how to be more creative I came across MyScrapNook. It is a free app. that lets you download your pictures and create your own scrap books. It gives you different themes, colors, and crafts to use.

    As an art choice I tour the KVCC museum. I brought my daughter along. We looked at old telephones, dresses, music and medical instruments, and west African artifacts.
  • Explore other wikis on arts integration

    I explored Drama B and Visual Arts B wiki page. I learn one easy way to get students involve in reading is by having them act out a scene from the reading. I learned that students can make connections to text by interpreting a picture.
