  • The invasion of Mexico

    This began because the president James K. Polk wanted to have Texas be apart of the United States so they were trying to buy it off of Mexico but Mexico decline. Mexico considered the annexations of Texas as an act of war. The fight soon ended and Mexico signed the treaty of Guadalupe Hildago was signed. Although Mexico lost the U.S. gave Mexico more than 18 Million in compensation.
  • American Indian Boarding Schools (1864)

    This act was established during the late 19th and mid 20th centuries of assimilating Native American children into euro American culture. The children were the most affected due to the way they had to change in a way to forget and deny their indigenous cultural signifiers. These methods made them cut their hair, forbidden to speak their languages and change their names.
  • Plessy v Ferguson

    This case began with a name by the name Homer Plessy, who refused to sit in a car for black people. Creating a case that Plessy felt as if he had his constitutional rights violated. This affected many African Americans who felt that they weren’t being heard in horrid times like these, but for Plessy to make it be known made a difference for many. This was regarded as one of the worst cars because of the trials response it upheld to a 7-1 denial request upon his case.
  • The G.I. Bill

    The people involved in this old be the president Franklin D. Roosevelt, and those who served in WWll. This law was passed to compensate for those veterans who served to receive these benefits which included to pay for those who might want to continue their education. Because of this, the outcome came to opening many doors for many Americans and the high education to the working class rose up drastically.
  • Brown V. Board of Education

    This case was based upon the segregation going on in public schools, violating again the 14th amendment in which became histories end of, “separate but equal” statement.Upon the new arrival of the Chief Justice, he succeeded in importing how the “separate but equal” act should not be displayed in schools. The law did not specify how they may become integrated up until 1955. Many defied the passing of this law.
  • New York City teachers strike

    This event was a confrontation between the new community controlled school board in black ocean hill Brownsville neighborhoods.Teachers were affected by this and choose to do a strike and walk out. This created a 36 day shut down in the public school and created tension. The strike pitted the community against union and creating conflict between local rights to teachers universal rights as workers.
  • Title lX

    This clause was about how nobody can be denied or excluded from participating in any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. The people affected by this law would be those who may have been discriminated based off their sexuality. The problem was that women’s activities were lacking the funds compared to men’s funding. Women’s and men’s resources were to be equal, and since this title has passed the increase in Women’s participation in sports has increased.
  • Millikan V. Bradley case

    This case happened i Michigan where they agreed that schools segregation needed to end and tried to change multiple school distracts. But because people were racist during this time, they appealed the ruling and ended up appealing the original outcome. They said their school districts and school didn't have to have racial equality. It was a case in favor of continuing school segregation.
  • Education for all handicapped children act

    This act was based on supporting children with disabilities and providing those resources to include them and make them feel included in receiving equal eduction. This act required all public schools accepting federal funds to provide equal access to education for children with physical and mental disabilities.
  • The Little Rock Nine

    The Little Rock nine was based on a group of nine African Americans who were integrated in the Central High school. These children were affected negatively on those circumstances being harassed, racial slurs, threatened not just by other students but other adults who would come to riot as well. This event happened because Of the Brown V. Board of education landmark that passed a couple years back,Segregate these students amongst each other and receive the same education as one another.
  • Pyler V. Doe

    the U.S. Supreme Court in Plyler v. Doe held that the Constitution guarantees all children, regardless of immigration status, equal access to a basic public education. James Plyer was the superintendent of the Tyler schools, he is the one who upheld this case in court. This case focused on many undocumented children or children who were raised by undocumented parents; they were being denied or charged at a higher and expensive rate than an average child who didn’t hold that name of citizenship.
  • Californias Proposition 209

    This proposition is about the California allot proposition, its to prohibit State governmental institutions from considering race, sex, or ethnicity specifically in the areas of public employment and public education. Those who this affected can be almost anyone so that they do not face discrimination upon being considered for a position or acceptance in a public area. Nobody was impacted by this in a negative way.
