    Russia dissolves Comintern
    The Comintern was a group of Communists. Their goal was to spread around communism. Russia disagreed their policies and morals. The general group was founded by Vladimir Lenen. Russia was afraid that with the support from some of their citizens, the Comintern would take over their government. Therefore, they worked hard to dissolve them.

    Kruschev and Kennedy indulge in brinkmanship
    Brinkmanship means that someone is taking as big of a risk that they can. During the Cold War, Krushchev and Kennedy were willing to do anything for their countries to win the war. Therefore, it was considered brinkmanship. They were taking it to the brink. This could have very much resulted in a dangerous situatiin.

    The Hungarian revolution specifically occured to rid of Soviet ideas in their government. This event lasted only a month. It resulted in a slowly failing USSR. Although, it affected the USSR, the revolt was a failure. The entire event slowly escalted starting from students, until the whole country was involved.

    The Sputnik was the first object to go into space. This was the result of a long race between the USSR and the US. The countries were trying to see who could get an object out there first. The USSR won. The Sputnik was simply a little robot that could move. The launching lead to new advances in technology.

    The Explorer 1 was the first satelite ever sent to space by the US.It was a successful mission for the US. It was in space until 1970. It's main purpose was to bring back data for new technology. The batteries died out after only 4 months. It was retrieved later on.

    During the Cold War, a plane was shot down by the Soviet Union. This, if announced, could have lead to an outbreak on Nuclear Warfare.The US admitted that the plane was intended for survalience. The US was embaressed that a solider died for such small purposes, but felt it was necessary.

    Soviet Yuri Gagarin first man in space.
    The USSR had won again. They hads sent the first human into space ever. Yuri Gagrin completed a successful mission of orbit around earth. When he returned to the USSR he was gicen many different awards and became a celebrity. He lived on as a pilot. He later died when a plane he was flying crashed.

    The Apollo is the first space craft that was sent into outer space by the US. It was a big achievement at the time bacuse of the small technology available. The US had been going against USSR to see which country could reach space first. Although, RUssia was first, the US still saw this as a big acomplishment.

    The Berlin Wall was located between West Berlin and Germany. This was to cut off all relations with the other country whatsoever.The tower was gaurded and anyone who tried to jump over the wall would be killed. Both countries did not want anyone citizens to emigrate. They would have done anything to prevent this.

    The CUban Missile Crisis lasted 13 days. This was a dangerous situation fo rboth the USSR and the US. They were very close to ending the world. Threats over using nuclear bombs were spreading aroung. It came down to the piont where the US was only seconds away from pressing the button.

    The treaty was created to prevent further incidents such as the Cuban Missile Crisis. The nuclear weapons are very dangerous. If any were to go off, it would essentially ruin a whole country. Many countries felt that the weapons were unnecessary. All they did was casue problems. Therefore, the treaty was signed.

    After the war, the country started to force certain agriculture, and other items. The people became very upset. The economy was beginning to fail. They were deciding to become communist to prevent any other issues to overcome their country again.

    This was a Soviet Union policy. It was created to prevent any overtaking of the government. Their governemnt wanted to prevent any type of communism or dictatorship from coming into their country. Communism was seen as a dangerous situation to those who lived in the country.
