Hassan was born "in the winter of 1964."(6) Hassan is the son/ servant of Baba and becomes Amir's best friend. Hassan runs kites for Amir during competitions. -
Hassan is sexually assulted
Amir, "became what (he) is today at the age of twelve, on a frigid overcast day in the winter of 1975."(1). In other words when Hassan was sexually assulted it affected amir for life. Amir also won the kite tournament on this day with the help of Hassan, who was carrying the kites string. -
Amir wins kite runner contest
Hassan says, "bravo, Amir agha." (66) when Amir wins the kite contest. While Hassan is searching for the last kite that Amir cut Asseh sexually assults him. -

Amir's 13th birthday
Amir "turned thirteen that summer of 1976, Afganistans's next to last summer of peace and anonymity." (93) Amir's 13th birthday marks the begining of his long journey. Because shortly before his birthday he witnessed the sexual assult of Hassan, Amir's birthday was gloomy to say the least. -

Amir's said, his "innards had been rolling" ever since they had left at two in the morning. -
Amir graduates highschool
Amir had "graduated high school at the age of twenty."(131). Because of his troubled childhood, graduating highschool is a huge feat. Amir has been trying to gain his fathers approval his whole life and completing highschool is yet another attempt to connect with his father, Baba. -
Amir meets Soraya
Amir sees Soraya for the first time and describes her as "a slim hipped beauty with velvety coal black hair" (140). Amir expresses excitement when he meet Soraya for the first time. -
Baba is diagnosed with lung cnacer
Baba is diagnosed with "Oat cell Carcinoma,"(156). Because he is a very prideful and strong man he refuses medical help to ease his pain and is informed that he doesnt have long to live -
Baba Dies
Amir helped Baba into bed and "Baba never woke up."(173) . After battling cancer, Baba had passed away. Baba had been very noble and refused to take medication to ease his pain. Amir had been battling all his life to impress Baba and now he is dead, and Amir is devistated. -
Amir Publishes his first book
Amir publishes his first book "In the summer of 1988" (182). Amir's book is a tale of father and son. Because of his complicated relationship with his father, Amir's novel was based on their life story. -
Amir rescues sohrab
Rahim Khan informs Amir that Hassan was his half brother and is now dead.Amir travels back to Afganistan to adopt Hassan's son. After an encounter with Assef Amir and Sohrab wake up in a hospital the next morning. -

Amir runs a kite for sohrab
Amir said he would run a kite for Sohrab "a thousand times over."(371). Because Hassan had once run a kite for Amir he thought he should run a kite for Hassan's son. Amir is trying to give back to Hassan by taking care of his son in hope to aleviate his guilt.
