Baba shows Hassan his "brithday present" which so happens to be a plastic surgeon who is willing to remove Hassans hairlip. This surprises Hassan and looks for Amirs approval (pg 45). -

Amir watches Hassan get raped but refuses to help him out for the sake of not being hurt as well. So instead Amir watches behind a wall and after time his guilt eats him up until he finally confesses "i watched Hassan get raped" (pg 86) -

Amir turns 13 and watches Hassan "serving drinks to Assef and Wali" who are Hassans violators. Amir feels guilty but still does nothing to help Hassan. (pg 100) -

when the first soviet union troops landed in kabul "to assist Babrak Karmal who had become president in a coup within the Afhan Communist Leadership" they had come to help Karmal Government but in reality had come to replace HAfizullah amin an afhgan leader who had lost the trust of his people -

Baba and Amir are living in America but Baba does not like it very much because the culture and their wealth differs by far. Bab is not used to working such arduous and hard labor and it causes him to get sick and hav arthritus -

Amir and hsi father leave Afghanistan to go to America where it is safer. But guards stop their car and tell the people inside the only way to get out is if they can have fun with a woman on board. Baba stands up and says he would take "a thousand bullets before i [he] let this indeceny take place" (pg 116). -

Baba is not used to American culture and when the local market man MR. Nguyen aks for ID and Baba gets very angry. Which then Baba explains his outburst to Amir that he "had not cash on him for the oranges" but had written a check to Mr. Nguyen. (pg 127) -

Baba introduces Amir to General Sahib Taheri who was a "decorated general in Kabul" (pg 138). Baba tells the general about Amirs accomplishments and Amir is surprised by this statement but is happy that his fahter finally approves of his job. -

Amir aced all of his classes"which was a minor mircale givenhow i'd [he] sit in lectures and hink of the soft hook of Soraya's nose" (pg 144). Amir's love for Soraya blossomed and soon he began to think of nothing but Soraya and how he would talk to her the next day. -
