  • Hassan is born, Sanuabar leaves

    In the begining of the story, Amir points out where Hassan was born saying, " It was in that small shack, that Hassan's mother Sanaubar, gave birth to him one cold winter day in 1964"(6)
    Amir is reflecting on the events that have happed in the past and remembers how Hassan had beenwith him from the begining. This is importaint because Amir remembers how Hassan and him have been together form the begining.
  • Hassan has his surgery

    Hassan was confident going into his surgery saying, " I wasn't scared Agha sahib"(46) Hassan is excited but at the same time nervous for the surgery that will fix his lip. This shows the stuggles Hassan must go through so he can have a normal apperance.
  • Hassan is raped by Assef

    Hassan was very proud of Amir when he won the kite flying contest saying, " Bravo! Bravo, Amir agha!"(66) This shows the good friendship of Hassan towards Amir. This is important because it shows that Hassan is always loyal to his closest friend.

We're leaving"(106) Even though Baba had forgave Hassan Ali knows what really happened and doesn't want his son getting into more trouble. This is importaint because it was Amir's fault thet Hassan had to leave.

  • Amir and Baba leave Afghanistan

    Amir isn't to happy about moving to the U.S. but says, "Baba loved the idea of America".(125) This shows that Baba wasn't nevous when moving to the U.S. This is importaint because he will be confident when adjusting to the new lifestyle.
  • Amir and Baba arrive in San Francisco

    When Baba moved to the U.S. " the Bay Area's smog sung his eyes, the traffic noise gave him headaches, and the pollen made him cough.(126) Even though Baba enjoys the U.S., he still has trouble adjusting to the American life style. This represents Baba's stuggles in fitting into a new society.
  • Amir graduates frome high school

    When Amir graduated from highschool Baba said, " I am Moftakhir" meaning that he is proud. (131) This shows that Baba isn't dissapointed with Amir even with all of the struggles they have encountered. Baba is proud of his son for achieving success something Baba was so accostomed to in Afghanistan.
  • Amir meets Soraya

    Baba could tell that amir liked soraya and asked, "has she made an impression on you".(141) Baba could tell this because Amir was so perssistant talking about her on the car ride home. This shows that Baba knows his son so well that he can read his thoughts.
  • Ali is killed by a land mine

    Hassan told Amir, " I was deeply saddened when I heard that Ali died.(206) Hassan was so broken because Ali was his father growing up. This is importaint because it was Amir's prior action that led to Ali's death.
  • Amir Marries Soraya

    When Amir went with Baba to get the general's approval to marry Soraya The General said, " You both have our blessings" which meant that they could get married.(168) This was a big part in Amir's life because he was becoming a big part of anothers life. This is also importaint because Amir and Soraya are making a lifelong commitment together.

  • Baba dies

    On Baba's final night he declined to take his morophine saying, " there is no pain tonight". (173) Baba knew that he was about to die so he didn't want to worry Amir. He simply said there is no pain tonight meaning that it will all be gone soon.

    Hassan named Sorhab after his favorite hero from the "Shahnamah".(211) This shows that Hassan has grown up and now has the gift of naming his own child. This is important because it will affect Amir's live drastically.

    When Amir found out what happened to Hassan all he could manage to whisper was "no. no. no."(219) This shows that even though it has been a long time he still cares about Hassan. This is also importaint because it makes Amir feel guilty for what happened.
  • Amir brings Sohrab to the U.S.

    When sohrab met Soraya she said, "we've all been waiting for you".(358) This shows that Amir is not the only one who cares about Sohrab. Amir has been influenced by Sohrab's story which others hear and show sorrow for Sohrab.
