  • Sopwith Camel

    Sopwith Camel
A single seated biplane, introduced to the western front in 1917. It was first tested in Brooklands, on 22nd of December 1916, by Harry Hawker. A succesful plane in world war one, and had thought to destroy over 1000 enemy planes, more than any other allied fighter plane in the war.
  • Sopwith Dolphin

    Sopwith Dolphin
The Sopwith Dolphin was a large wing spanged biplane, powered by a 200hp engine. This new design meant the plane was both fast and agile, it's was introduced to western front around Feburary 1918. 2072 Dolphins were made, mainly as fighter, but the reason behind the success was the design of where the pilot's seat was positioned, above the upper wing giving the pilot a great view to look upon.
  • Sopwith Snipe

    Sopwith Snipe
The Sowith Snipe was a successful biplane constructed in the late months of 1917. The plane wasn't that fast, but its manoeuverability and climb meant it was a good competitor against the germans. It was supposedly to be the advancement of the previous model the "opwith Camel," it ontained the same engine, but the Snipe was smaller, and the extra power went towards the machine gun planeted on the front of the plane.
  • Closure of the Sopwith Aviation Company

Closure of the Sopwith Aviation Company
After years of manufacturing great planes the Sopwith company closed down due to the probability of having to pay excess war profit duty, which seemed to much for the company to cope with. Moreover, after the war ended the war ended not enough people were buying their planes for reasonable amounts of money. However, Tom Sopwith himslef made a partnership together with Harry Hawker to form H.G Hawker Engineering.
  • Hawker Hart

    Hawker Hart
The Hawker Hart was a two seated biplane, used as a light bomber. It was powered by a 525hp rolls roye engine, a big leap from the previous biplanes, this new design created a very fast plane, which reached top speed of 172 in its test flight on 1st of June 1928.
  • Hawker Fury

    Hawker Fury
The Hawker fury was a great plane for the RAF, due to the fact it was their first plane to reach over 200mph at horizontal flight. This plane was powered by a 420hp rollys royce engine, and it's light weight design allowed it to reach such speeds.
  • Hawker Hurricane

    Hawker Hurricane
The Hawker Hurricane is famous for it's contribution towards the success at the battle of britain. This fighter plane was designed with eight front guns, first of the kind. Its metal desinged wing allowed it to go 80mph more faster than a plane with fabric material. But still today is the hurricane overshadowed by the spitfire, even though it is estimated that the plane was responsible for over 60% of all enemy destruction at the battle of Britain.
  • Hawker Typhoon

    Hawker Typhoon
The Hawker Typhoon was supposed to be the succesion of the Hawker hurricane. But due to the design, the plane wasn't as fast or agile as the hurricane. But it did adapt to become a great ground-attack aircraft, since it contained much space for machine guns and etc.
  • Hawker Harrier

    Hawker Harrier
The Hawker harrier was a break through discovery for british avaition, since it was the first RAF Jet plane to go faster than the speed of sound, therefore becoming super sonic. Its great success meant many Harriers were bought across the globe, mainly as a fighter aircraft. Beneath the plane over six torpedos could be kept, but this meant the flight time of the plane was considerably lower compared to when the plane flew without any equipment.
