Henry VIII became ‘head of the Church in England and Wales as far as the word of God allows. November – Act of Supremacy passed in Parliament. Henry is now the supreme head of the Church of England

Henry secretly married Anne Boleyn (January 25th). Marriage between Henry and Catherine of Aragon was annulled in April by Cranmer. Act in Restraint of Appeals introduced. Anne was crowned queen on May 31st. Elizabeth was born on September 7th.
