    The Gilded age stared in the 1870s and died down in the 1900s. It was the era of rapid economic growth. Immigrants were attracted to america because at the time their wages were much higher than Europe's. There was a huge gap from poor and wealthy. The poor was very poor and the wealthy were very wealthy. Railroads, factory systems, mining, and finance increased in importance as industrialization did.

    on Tuesday May 4th, there was a labor demonstration. It started out as a peaceful assembly. Worker were on strike for an eight hour day. eventually several workers were killed by police. The next day in result to the killings, an unknown person threw a bomb. The bomb killed seven police officers, at least 4 civilians, and wounded many others.

    On August 16th, 1896 Gold was forund in north-western Canada. Once San Francisco and Seattle caught wind of the news, an estimated 100,000 prospectorstraveled to the Klondike region. The journey was too hard for many and only 30,000 to 40,000 prospectors made it. only about 4,000 hit gold and a few became rich. Many found nothing.
