The UN approves the elections to be held to create a provisional government, however with the Soviet rejection of this idea the divide at the 38th parallel is born. The country becomes a Soviet North and Western, US-backed South. -
The first attack to spark a war (DPRK)
The Democratic Peoples' Republic of Korea (DPRK) launches an attack right over thr 38th Parallel, capturing Seoul. -
The UN reacts
The UN offiicially denounces the DPRK's actions, calling for a cessation of the aggression and conflict on the Peninsula. -
US comes to ROK's aide
President Truman of the US begins ordering US troops into the Korean altercation and to come to the aide of the Republic of Korea -
Australia commits
Australia is the second country to commit themselves to defence on behalf of ROK. -
First Australian Military resources encountering the war zone
HMAS Bataan and HMAS Shoalhaven leave the water of Japan for the Warzone of Korea, escorting US ships to Korea. -
The Chinese create a quick turn around
By this time the efforts on the US' side was no longer a defensive one, but rather offensive as the push past the 38th Parallel toward the Yalu River. The Chinese were ready for this, and launched an attack that manages to push the US forces right back past the 38th parallel, where Seoul falls into the hands of DPRK once again -
Mac Arthur finally sacked
After campaigning to chase the Chinese across the 38th Parallel again, General MacArthur is sacked. -
The Chinese on their way back to take Seoul
The Chinese spring offensive is halted by the 27th Commonwealth Brigade. -
Armistice Signed
DPRK, China and the UN sign an armistice. The ROK was not present as they refuesed to sign, however the effects of the armistice came into effect within 12 hours.
