  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    The British Commander Thomas gage ordered approximatley 800 soldiers to march to the town of Concord about 20 miles from Boston. There goal was to seize the Patriots stock pile. When the Patriots noticed Brithish troops movemnt, they would shine lanterns to signal there troops. Paul Revere was one of the most famous messangers although he did not make it to his destination. The Patriots ended up winning because of there advantages!
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    This battle was between the colonist and the Brithish became known as the Battle of Bunker Hill. Although the British had more soldiers, the Patriots still fought and proved that they could take them on! When the battle was over, the British lost double the amount of soldiers that the Patriots had. It was a tragic loss for the British but an outstanding job done by the Patriots!
  • Battle of long Island

    Battle of long Island
    After the British evacuated Boston on March 17th, 1776, Washington correctly guessed that their next target would be New York. Washington had marched himself as well as his 19,000 soldiers to lower Manhatten. In late July, British and it's 400 ships with approximatley 32,000 men commanded by commander Howe. The British ended up winning with a surprising victory !
  • Battle of Trenton

    Battle of Trenton
    On Christmas night Washington and 2400 soldiers rowed across the icy Delaware in a blizzard! The Hessiand were mercenaries and were paid to fight, The Hessians partied the night before and did not realize that they were coming. That was a big advantage for them! Also, it was an important victory because they captured 900 soldiers and were able to defeat them!
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    Saratoga were partially sucessful. In there fight, the Patriots had chopped down trees to become obsticles to the British. They kept fighting and fighting until they finally surrendered! The British did not travel light though, they brought wagons and fancy things! At the end, France decided to eventually join the Patriots!
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    Charles Lord Cornwallis signed orders surrendering his British Army to a combined French and American Force. The battles was about 3 weeks long and began at the Chesapeak bay, and then went to New York (Yorktown). Cornwallis surrender ended a disasterous Southern Campaine for the British Army!
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris, also know as Treaty of 1763. The American war for independence was actually a world conflict. Involving not only the United States and Great Britain, but Spain, France, and the Netherlands. The treaty is named for the city in which it was negotiated and signed. The last page has a signature of David Hartley, who represented Great Britain, and the three American Negotiators, who signed their name in alphabetical order.
  • U.S Constitution

    U.S Constitution
    In Philidelphia on May 14th, 1787, to revise the articles of confederation. The members ajourned from day to day until a quorum of the 7 states was obtained on May 25th. Through the discussion and debate it became clear in mid June. Throughout the summer the delegates debated. The work of many minds, the Constitution stands as a model of cooperative statesmanship and the art of compromise.
