Hunting With Gale in the Woods
In the begining it starts off with Katniss and Gale hunting together in the woods. They both are in a similar situaton because they both have to help feed their families. Gale helps Katniss hunt and they both split up the game at the end and bring it home to their families. So even if Katniss doesnt catch anything Gale will still give her half of what he caught so she can feed her family. -

The Hunger Games
When Cinna made the fire costume for Katniss, he made her the center of attention. Cinna also brought her more sponsors by this so Katniss could survive longer in the Games. -
Peeta Giving the Bread
Earlier in Katniss' life when she was unable to get food for her family, Peeta had given her pieces of bread from his house. Peeta went on to be punished by his mother for helping Katniss feed her family. -
Cinna's Coustume
When Cinna made the fire costume for Katniss, he made her the center of attention and the other tributes envyous of her. Cinna also brought her more sponsors by this, so Katniss could survive longer in the Games. -
Haymitch Going Sober
During the Games, Haymitch decides to put down the alcohal to help Katniss. By being sober Haymitch is able to make the right choices and get good sponsors to help Katniss win the Games. This ended up being piviotal to Katniss' victory. -
Rue Points Out the Tracker Jackers
Later in the book when Katniss is stuck up in a tree with the Career tributes below her, Rue points out a Tracker Jacker nest above her. This is important because Rue both saved Katniss from getting stung and provided her with a way of escape by dropping the nest on the other tributes. -
Rue With the Cure
After Katniss had been stung by a tracker jacker Rue help out and provided care for Katniss. Rue used a remedy with leaves to help Katniss. This was important because without Rue, Katniss might not have survived. -
Haymitch and the Water
When Katniss is stuggling for water she turns to Haymitch and wonders why none has been sent to her. She starts to become frustrated but then realizes the message Haymitch is sending her, that she is already close to water. Katniss then pushes herself to keep going until she finds the water. By this Haymitch earned Katniss' trust which was important throughout the book. -
Haymitch Sending Food
When Peeta and Katniss are in the cave Katniss realizes that whenever she or Peeta needs food she must continue their fake relationship. Such as when she give Peeta a kiss Haymitch will send her food. This becomes important in how Katniss and Peeta survive throughout the Games and do not starve. -
Haymitch Sends the Medicine
When Peeta is really struggling with his leg Haymitch sends medicine to help cure him. This helps both Peeta and Katniss because they are able to continue in the Games and get out of the cave. Katniss no longer has to wait back on Petta and take care of him. -
Thresh
Towards the end of the story, Katniss and Thresh have a run in. Thresh could have easily killed Katniss but he let her go because she was kind to Rue, who was from the same distirct as Thresh. Thresh spared Katniss's life and if he had not of done that he maybe would have still been alive instead of Katniss.
