Shortly after Yoweri Museveni was indicted as Uganda's president, the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) formed to rebel against Museveni (Johnson). Once the resistance were losing, however, Kony and his men turned on the Acholi people and accused them of "sinning against the lord" (Johnson). At this time there were no children involved in the movement (Van Acker).

On Christmas Day in 2008, Kony and his army decimated Garamba National Park, clubbing and bludgeoning innocent civilians and burning the villages of those people. This was the last big incident that has involved him and his organization (Johnson).

Invisible Children release the video "Kony 2012" which got wildly popular among the masses (Kony). The video has, however, gotten critisism of the organization's true intentions, and how relevant the issue is today (Kony). It has also caused much interest in having more knowledge on the whole situation as it stands today (Kony).

With the success of the first video, a second video, “Kony 2012 Part II- Beyond Famous”, was released on April 5, 2012 (Orden and Bariyo A9).

Cesaer Achellam, a a top senior commander of the LRA, was arrested in the jungles of the Central African Republic (Deng Dimo). He was considered by the Ugandan government as the top commander of the LRA, making this a huge blow to the Lord's Resistance Army (Deng Dimo).
